Montreal, June 1, 2026 - Surrounded by her family and more than a hundred fellow citizens, as well as community leaders, local elected officials, candidates and Quebec Liberal Party activists, Désirée McGraw was officially nominated today as the Quebec Liberal Party candidate in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce for the 2026 general election.
Born and raised in the riding of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, which also includes the City of Montreal West, Ms. McGraw is seeking a second term as MNA for Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. She is currently the official opposition critic for international relations, trade and climate change. She is also vice-president of the National Assembly's delegation for relations with the United States, and a representative on the Canada-U.S. Relations Commission of the Council of State Governments East.
An economist by training and an experienced CEO, she has led a diversified career: senior policy advisor in the Canadian Prime Minister's Office, co-founder of Climate Reality Canada with Al Gore, President and CEO of the Jeanne Sauvé Foundation and the first woman to head Pearson International College in British Columbia. She has also worked as a UN reporter and taught at McGill University on sustainable development and climate diplomacy.
Driven by her conviction that NDG deserves a strong, committed voice, she made the leap into provincial politics in 2022. During her first mandate, the MNA for Notre-Dame-de-Grâce brought several key issues to the National Assembly with conviction. In particular, she initiated Quebec's first bill enshrining the fundamental right to a healthy environment. She is also the instigator of the Journée québécoise de sensibilisation au deuil périnatal (Quebec Perinatal Bereavement Awareness Day) and has submitted a request for an initiative mandate to improve support for the 23,000 families affected by this ordeal every year.
Ms. McGraw's commitment to Notre-Dame-de-Grâce is deeply personal. Born and raised in the district, she now lives there with her husband and their three fils. Since her election in 2022, she has worked every day to defend the interests of her fellow citizens and the community organizations that make Notre-Dame-de-Grâce so rich.
"NDG is my home and my heart. This is where I was born, this is where I grew up, and this is where my husband and I are raising our family. So I'm very fiere and determined to seek a second mandate for the citizens of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. My vocation is to prepare the next generation for success: a healthy environment, a sustainable economy and an inclusive and just society for all. I am seeking a second term, under the leadership of Charles Milliard, in whom I have complete confiidence to build a prosperous Quebec for all."
- Désirée McGraw, QLP candidate in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce
"For the past four years, the Liberal caucus has been fortunate to have Désirée at the table. An economist and climate expert, Désirée McGraw is a dedicated MNA whose expertise in trade and international relations is more valuable than ever in the current geopolitical context. I look forward to campaigning alongside her next fall!"
- Charles Milliard, Leader of the Quebec Liberal Party
