Laval, September 30, 2026 – The leader of the Quebec Liberal Party, Charles Milliard, wants a healthcare system that is simpler, more accessible, and closer to patients. The PLQ proposes creating a true public telehealth portal, accessible 7 days a week throughout Quebec, so that Quebecers can more easily get the answers and care they need.
For the PLQ, telehealth must be an integral part of the public primary care system. It must bring care closer to patients—especially in rural areas—reduce unnecessary travel, and make better use of the skills of all healthcare professionals. Telehealth complements our commitment to making CLSCs the cornerstone of healthcare in our communities in order to improve and enhance access to primary care. Instead of having to travel or wait for an in-person appointment, patients will be able—when their situation allows—to consult remotely and be seen by the right professional at the right time.
« Today, too many Quebecers still have to organize their day around the healthcare system. We want to do the opposite: organize care around patients. With a public telehealth portal accessible throughout Quebec, we’re bringing care closer to people and making their lives easier.. »

Safe staffing ratios to care for those who care for us
Bringing care closer to patients also means providing better support to the professionals who deliver it. A Liberal government is therefore committed to gradually resuming the implementation of safe professional-to-patient ratios, which has been suspended in recent years.
The rollout will take into account clinical and regional realities, workforce availability, and the capacity of various settings to implement these measures.
The goal is simple: believing in our public system also means taking care of the people who keep it running every day.
