Biography

André Fortin has been acting as MP to ensure the well-being of Pontiac residents since 2014. During his most recent term of service to his fellow citizens, André Fortin, former Minister of Transport from 2017 to 2018, demonstrated leadership in the areas of public finances, regional vitality, and health, social services and public health as Official Opposition critic. He was named by La Presse newspaper's parliamentary prize list, taking fourth and fifth place on the podium as parliamentarian of the year in 2020 and 2021, in addition to being a finalist in the Best Speaker and Best Riding Representative categories.

A resident of Aylmer with his wife Marlene and two daughters, the Quyon-born Liberal MP has worked closely with various stakeholders in the riding to carry out numerous projects that have improved the quality of life of residents.

André Fortin also initiated the tabling of two bills, both passed unanimously: An Act to establish presumed consent for organ and tissue donation after death, and An Act to improve the quality of care by setting ratios in certain establishments covered by the Act respecting health services and social services.
