Biography
Leanne Loney, an elementary school teacher, has 22 years of experience in education in Quebec. Born in London, Ontario, she holds degrees in political science and education from Lakehead University, where she was also a member of the wrestling team. She chose to pursue her career in Quebec, where she learned French and built relationships within several school service centers.
She has lived in Abitibi-Témiscamingue since 2004 and in Rouyn-Noranda for the past six years. She is the mother of three teenagers and two stepsons, ranging in age from 15 to 19. Very active in her community, she has coached youth hockey, mountain biking, and cross-country running at both the elementary and high school levels, in addition to volunteering for the Tour de l’Abitibi, the Cadet Corps, and figure skating.
An avid runner, the QLP candidate for Rouyn-Noranda–Témiscamingue travels far and wide to participate in marathons. She also participates in the “Cours ta région” initiative, which takes her running throughout Abitibi-Témiscamingue and gives her the opportunity to meet people in the region.
