Michel Bienvenu

Biography

A seasoned manager in the field of regional development, Michel Bienvenu headed the Regional Conference of Elected Officials (CRÉ) for the Longueuil metropolitan area from 2004 to 2013. In that role, he spearheaded collaboration among regional partners, the preparation and implementation of the five-year land-use plan, and relations with provincial ministries and regional agencies. An experienced communicator, he has extensive knowledge of the public and parapublic sectors, as well as the municipal and private sectors.

He began his career in human resources, specifically in labor relations and compensation, in both the public and private sectors. He served as director of human resources for the City of Dollard-des-Ormeaux from 1992 to 2001, then worked in the manufacturing and construction sectors, in addition to serving as a senior advisor at Aon Canada. From 1986 to 1992, he served as a commissioner on the Essential Services Board, where he was responsible for enforcing the provisions of the Labor Code regarding the maintenance of essential services.

A member of the Order of Certified Human Resources and Industrial Relations Advisors of Quebec, he holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Concordia University.

The QLP candidate in Rimouski has also served as a city councilor in Boucherville and as vice president of the board of directors of Collège Édouard-Montpetit. Committed to environmental issues, he serves as vice president of a regional environmental council. A longtime Liberal activist, he chaired an association in riding and ran as the Quebec Liberal Party candidate in Vachon in 2014.
