Randy Legault-Rankin

Biography

Randy Legault-Rankin, the City of Montreal’s Commissioner for Relations with Indigenous Peoples, is making the leap into provincial politics to join the Quebec Liberal Party under the leadership of Charles Milliard.

A member of the Abitibiwinni First Nation, the QLP candidate in Laurier-Dorion has dedicated his career to bringing communities together, developing public policy, and serving the public.

In his role with the City of Montreal, he led reconciliation efforts between the City and Indigenous communities. He helped shape public policies, administrative practices, and municipal decision-making to ensure that services, programs, and institutions are more inclusive and better adapted to the realities of people and communities that have historically been underrepresented.

Previously, he held strategic positions in communications, public affairs, and government relations at Indigenous Services Canada, Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada, as well as at Saputo, Vidéotron, and Wapikoni Mobile. This career path, spanning government, the business world, and the nonprofit sector, has given him a deep understanding of all three areas.

Deeply involved in the Montreal community, Randy Legault-Rankin serves on the Social Development Investment Committee of Centraide of Greater Montreal as well as on the board of directors of the First Peoples’ Justice Center of Tiohtià:ke/Montreal. He has also served as chair of the board of directors at Mikana and as a board member at Psychoéducation Sans Frontières.
