Serge Bergeron

Biography

A native of Chicoutimi and a member of the Innu community of Mashteuiatsh, Serge Bergeron is a special education teacher by training. He now hopes to put his experience to work for the people of Roberval as a Liberal MNA.

He holds a college diploma (DEC) in humanities from Collège de Jonquière, a bachelor’s degree in special education from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), and a master’s degree in educational management and administration from the Université de Sherbrooke; he has also studied substance abuse, personal and social education, and educational administration.

Passionate about education and driven by a desire to help impart knowledge to young people—particularly those with special needs—Serge Bergeron has devoted most of his career to Quebec’s education system. He began his career as a special education teacher with the Montreal School Board, where he worked for thirteen years with elementary and secondary school students; he then held several management positions, including assistant principal, principal of elementary and secondary schools and adult education centers, and coordinator of a group of schools within the CSDM. He later served as superintendent of the Pays-des-Bleuets School Board.

In addition to his career in education, Serge Bergeron served as mayor of Roberval from 2021 to 2025. His term was marked by his commitment to sustainable development, improving municipal services, and community development.
