Valérie Assouline

Valérie Assouline grew up in Saint-Laurent, where she established her law practice and chose to pursue her career. A lawyer for nearly 30 years, she has devoted much of her career to advocating for families and children. A law graduate of the University of Montreal, she also has a background in sociology and pursued studies in management at HEC Montréal.

In 2007, she founded SOS Avocats in Saint-Laurent, a law firm dedicated in particular to advocating for families and children. Her practice has led her to handle complex cases involving child welfare and to become a recognized voice in the public sphere on children’s rights, child welfare, and domestic violence.

Her commitment to the legal profession led her to become Senior Counsel and then President of the Montreal Bar Association for the 2025–2026 term. She chose “Compassion at the Heart of Justice” as the theme for her term as president, with the aim of promoting a justice system that is more humane, more accessible, and responsive to the needs of citizens.

She also has extensive experience in community-based politics. For the past nine years, she has served as a city councilor in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, where she works directly with residents on issues that affect their daily lives.
