Biography

A native of Mont-Saint-Hilaire, where he grew up for nearly twenty-five years, Xavier Mercier has an intimate understanding of the realities of the district. A student at Au-Fil-de-l’Eau Elementary School and later at Ozias-Leduc High School, he also played for the Mont-Saint-Hilaire Cougars for seven years.

Drawing on his local roots, Xavier Mercier has built a career that reflects his ambition and his constant drive to excel. Starting out as a carpenter and joiner, he went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business administration from UQAM while working full-time. He subsequently moved into the financial sector, notably at the Bank of Montreal and Manulife, before helping to develop a Toronto-based Canadian fintech company. During his tenure, this Canada-wide company experienced significant growth, expanding from $35 million in assets to $2.2 billion in just four years. More recently, he served as Director of North American Sales at Ezeflow, a global industrial manufacturer.

Deeply committed to his community, Xavier Mercier has served as vice chair of the board of directors of the Saint-Hyacinthe Health Camp Foundation since 2024. Personally aware of the challenges of neurodiversity, he also hopes to help improve the range of services available to neurodivergent adults and their loved ones.

Deeply attached to the region where he grew up, Xavier Mercier now hopes to put his experience in management, business development, and leadership to work for the citizens of Borduas. Convinced that the district deserves representation fully dedicated to its priorities, he is committed to defending the interests of families, entrepreneurs, and organizations in the region with energy, diligence, and a personal touch.
