En route to the 2018 general election

Montréal, June 20, 2018 – Today, in the presence of many party members and supporters and several ministers and MNAs, Gabrielle Collu was nominated as the official candidate for the Quebec Liberal Party (QLP) in the riding of Mercier for the upcoming 2018 general election. Along with her family and many friends, ministers André Fortin and Pierre Arcand were at her side, as well as David Birnbaum, MNA for D’Arcy-McGee and Chair of the Montréal Caucus, and Marwah Rizqy, Liberal candidate in Saint-Laurent.

Mercier is my neighborhood. I love it and have big plans for it. I raised my three children here. They went to the public schools here and played in the surrounding streets and parks. Mercier is home. These are the businesses, schools, medical clinics and green spaces that my family and I go to and I’m going to defend them.

The QLP is a party about openness and innovation. It’s about ideas and debates. It’s the party that combines economic development and social services. I intend to take the vision, priorities, issues and challenges of the people of Mercier to the National Assembly. I’m listening and on the ground—come see me. We’re going to stimulate the economy, support our local organizations and make this the best possible place to live for our families.

Note that the Liberal government has balanced our public finances to give us the means to invest more in our priorities. Since May 2014, more than 229,500 jobs have been created in Québec; the unemployment rate has been at an all-time low for several months; over 1,000,000 Quebecers now have access to a family doctor; taxes have decreased; and major investments have been made, particularly in health and education.
