Violence et répression à Port-au-Prince : L’Assemblée nationale témoigne sa solidarité envers Haïti

The Liberal Critic for International Relations, Ms. La Paule Robitaille, presented a motion to offer support in light of the worrisome humanitarian situation in Haiti. A motion that was unanimously adopted by the National Assembly.

Motion presented by the MNA representing Bourrassa-Sauvé:

“That the National Assembly acknowledge the worrisome humanitarian situation caused by the serious crisis that is afflicting the Republic of Haiti and has been paralyzing its major institutions for several weeks;

That it express its deep concern about the violence and multiple rights and freedoms violations within the Haitian population;

That it attest to our wholehearted solidarity with the Haitian people and our hope of a return to a safe and stable society;

That it recall the bonds of friendship that unite the peoples of Quebec and Haiti, bonds that are strengthened by the presence of some 150,000 Quebecers of Haitian origin in our society;

That it call on the governments of Quebec and Canada, as well as in the international community, to mobilize in support of any peaceful and democratic resolution that emanates from stakeholders within Haiti’s civil society.
