Biography
Jennifer Maccarone is a Quebec entrepreneur and politician, elected to the Quebec National Assembly as MNA for Westmount-Saint-Louis under the banner of the Quebec Liberal Party in the general election of October 1, 2018, and re-elected in 2022. Since February 2026, she has held the position of Chief Official Opposition Whip.
She is currently the Official Opposition critic for public safety, for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, and responsible for the Mauricie and Laval regions. Over the years, she has also held a number of parliamentary positions, including Chair of the Commission des transports et de l'environnement, Vice-Chair of parliamentary committees, Rapporteur for the Québec Section of the Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie, and Chair of parliamentary sessions.
Since taking office, Jennifer Maccarone has been committed to bringing the voice of Westmount-Saint-Louis citizens to the National Assembly. She acts as a direct link between her constituency and public institutions, ensuring that the needs of the community are met, particularly in the areas of health, education, immigration, support for seniors and local services. Her priorities include the construction of a new elementary school, the creation of an adult education center and the development of new social housing. It also remains deeply committed to defending the rights and freedoms of all.
As the single mother of Sam and Bianca, two young people living on the autism spectrum, Ms. Maccarone attaches particular importance to improving services for people with autism and raising public awareness of this reality.
When she entered politics in 2018, she became the Official Opposition critic for the rights of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, families and people living with a disability or autism spectrum disorder. She then became the first Official Opposition spokesperson in Canada specifically responsible for representing people with autism.
Prior to her political involvement, Ms. Maccarone was President of the Quebec English School Boards Association and of the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board. She has also been actively involved in numerous organizations promoting the rights of children with special needs in schools.
